Using the Library

Alexandrina Libraries are part of the South Australian oneCard network. Your library card can be used to borrow items from and return to any library in the state.

Terms and conditions of membership

Please tell us if your card is lost or stolen, or if any of your personal details change. By signing your card you agree to:

  • Terms within the OneCard Network Fair Use Policy for Library Customers
  • Return items on time, or extend your loans when possible
  • Take care of library items – lost or damaged items will incur replacement and processing fees
  • Ensure that you feel comfortable with the items your child is borrowing
  • Your child must have permission before they may access the internet
  • Staff may occasionally set direction in line with legislation such as Health, Safety and Welfare and the Copyright Act

Borrowing

CDs, DVDs and magazines – 2 week loan
Books and other items – 4 week loan
100 items including 20 CDs and 20 DVDs per Library card
Digital Content is also available for loan, including eBooks, eAudiobooks and digital magazines

Returning

Items can be returned to an Alexandrina Library/Depot or to any South Australian Public Library. After hours return chutes are available at most libraries.

Renewing an item on loan

An item due date can be extended twice if not on hold for another customer.

Reservations/holds

Up to 30 items can be placed on hold.

Requesting items not in the catalogue

Items can be requested for free from the State Library for use within the Alexandrina Libraries. University or interstate library items are also available (fees may apply). Customer requests for specific items can also be made at our Libraries for future purchase or consideration. Ask at the desk for a form.

PC access

Up to 3 hours per day use on our Library PCs. Use your South Australian Library card barcode number to log in followed by your PIN. Reset your PIN by logging in to the My Account link at the top of the page. If you don’t know your PIN, please speak with a staff member at the front desk or by phone on 8555 7000.
Access to Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint). Headphone jack available if you would prefer to hear sound.
