Ancestry.com Library Edition provides access to an extensive range of genealogical resources from the United States and United Kingdom, including census, vital, church, court, and immigration records. It also provides limited Australian coverage. This service is only available using computers within the library.



State Library of South Australia

National Archives of Australia

The National Archives of Australia are a rich source of information for family historians. Many of the records in our collection the about people who either migrated to Australia, served in our defence forces, are of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander origin, were interned or investigated by the government, or applied for copyright, patents or trademarks.

The National Library's collections offer a wealth of resources to the Australian family historian marking it a great place to start your research. Many family history sources are now available electronically so check their eResources for titles under the subject of ‘Genealogy’. Here, you can find links to networked family history resources as well as selected free websites.
