School Community Libraries

School Community Libraries (SCL) (also known as ‘Joint-use’ libraries) were established in 1975 and are unique to South Australia. They have proven a remarkable success in providing a public library service in rural areas of South Australia.

This model has been successful due to the effective cooperation between the Department for Education and Child Development (DECD), Local Government and the Libraries Board.
