Arbor Day was an annual event to celebrate the role of trees in our lives and promote the planting and care of trees. This is an annual holiday in many countries where it is still celebrated. This was encouraged by having school children participate in planting trees at various locations and incentives were given for children who showed the greatest care. Arbor Day was first celebrated in Australia in 1889. The event was first recorded in Aldinga in the newspaper in 1890.

The others on the right are unknown. The two children are also unknown. Milrow Eatts was born in Myponga and was a long term resident of Cowell and Kimba. His brother William Alfred (Wilf) Eatts was born in Yankalilla in 1878 and lived in Aldinga. They were sons of Thomas Eatts and Elizabeth nee Hunt.
