Description
The Church of Christ occupied a stone chapel in Willunga’s High Street, which opened as a place of worship on 11 December 1870. Due to a declining congregation, church services were discontinued in the 1930s, and the building was leased for various purposes, including as an administration centre for managing Italian prisoners of war working on local farms during World War II. Afterwards it was used as CWA restrooms and for meetings of the local branch of the Red Cross Society. In 1961 the building was purchased by the Masonic Lodge, and served as Lodge Number 215 until its closure in 1991. The building was sold, and has since been used variously as a private residence, art gallery and dance studio.
