Description 
Car decorated for a parade, Noarlunga, S. Aust., early 1900s. Courtney Ferris is dressed as a policeman, and three little girls wearing nurses costumes are sitting on the running board of the car. Two men inside the car appear to be wearing military uniforms. Courtney Ferris (circa 1875-1945) operated a saddlery and petrol station from the Horseshoe Inn in the 1930s, during a period in which it did not operate as a hotel, until his death in 1945. Note: Noarlunga was renamed Old Noarlunga in 1978 (Government Gazette, 7 December 1978).

Description 
Opened in 1851 as Gumprs by proprietor James Gumprs, it was renamed the Salopian 1854 and again in 1859 after being renamed Gumprs again from 1856-1858. James Gumprs first obtained a licence here in June 1851. He arrived in South Australia by 1840, in which year he married his wife Eliza. He died in 1856 as a result of an accident on his cart at O'Halloran Hill. Eliza remarried William Holden in 1858, and the licence transferred to her new spouse and the name again became the Salopian. The building was purchased in 1878 by Scottish immigrant and Willunga Council Chairman William McMurtrie, who lived there from 1896. On his death the property went to his daughter Mrs Mary McMurtrie, and her husband Thomas. It was sold by the family in 1973. McMurtrie Road was originally known as Bethany Road, as it lead to the settlement Bethany, near Strouts Road. In November 1985 the building opened again as a restaurant named the Salopian Inn.

Description 
William Price (1852-1932) was a son of James and Charlotte Price of Old Noarlunga. He married Emily Hepenstal (1853-1917), daughter of Port Noarlunga pioneer settlers George Mulgrave Hepenstal and Sarah Smith. William and Emily raised a family of 11 children at George Hepenstal’s old cottage on Witton Road (now demolished). William and several of his sons worked as fishermen.

Description 
Olive Ross Reid married Edward Eversley Thomas in 1899 at Christ Church, O'Halloran Hill. She was a daughter of Lucy Reynell and her husband Ross Thompson Reid, and granddaughter of John Reynell. She died in 1945.

Walter Furler's store and residence, 48 Patapinda Road, Noarlunga, S. Aust., circa 1900. A horse and buggy can be seen in the street at the front of the shop, and a woman and child are standing alongside. Walter Furler (1858-1937) was one of 9 children born in Noarlunga to Charles William Furler, who arrived in South Australia in 1839, and his second wife Charlotte Newling. Walter married Lydia Jane Williams, and had 9 children born in Noarlunga: Walter Charles Raymond (b. 1891); Albert (b. 1893); Herbert Ross (b. 1895); Vera Lottie Grace (b. 1898); Charles Leslie (b. 1900); Percy Stuart Newling (b. 1904); Edna Clarice (b. 1908); Lila Daphne (b. 1910); and Rita Violet Irene (b. 1912). The original cottage at this site was built in about 1870, the shop added in the 1910s. Walter bought the premises in 1908 from his brother Frederick who inherited from their father. Lydia and Walter ran the store until their deaths in 1923 and 1937, respectively. Their son Charles Leslie Furler then used the shop to sell electrical goods. Note: Noarlunga was renamed Old Noarlunga in 1978 (Government Gazette, 7 December 1978).

From left: Ettie; Amy; Mrs Strout; Alice; Stella; Maud. This was the second jetty to be built at Port Willunga with work commencing in 1868. The storm damaged jetty was finally dismantled by the Australian armed forces during World War II.
